Research Line 1: Regional Development

Regional development aspects focusing on the urban-rural relations, regional agriculture, and environmental and public policies. Studies are developed in urban economics, agricultural economics, the agrarian systems, and its structure evolution in Brazil. The agrarian policy dynamics, natural resources and sustainability in risk environments, forest sector, in terms of new agricultural spaces, the emergence of new social participants and the local culture.

Research Line 2: State, Society and Market

Discussion and analysis focusing on the organizational dynamics of mixed economies that dominate the contemporary world, based on the relation between State and market economy, and the role of the society and its agents in socioeconomic development. The relations among State, Society and Market are studied, the most important conflict sources among their participants and the factors that can contribute to the long-term balance in regional and local contexts.
